The Cardboard Box

When I was a child, I wore a cardboad box on my head. I was blind to the world.

It wasn’t until I attended an expensive college and read the great books of Western Civilization that my mind was opened, and I replaced my immature cardboad box on my head with a newer, fancier cardboard box, one with a ribbon on top.

When I got married, my beloved and I combined our cardboard boxes into one, and we shared our view of the darkness together.

For my recent birthday, a friend send me a gift card. I will be using it to shop for another cardboard box.

So many decisions! What color and size? It’s time to hide from the world in style!

My daughter played w three boxes for weeks on end. Oh the possibilities!

Now I’m thinking about my own cardboard box. It seems so cheap and tawdry…

A fridge box – you can live in it.

    Samoas! My favorite!

I have a soft spot in my heart for beer boxes. You, the kind that have the dual-fold top. They’re so great for all your stuff. Big enough to house a good bit of your belongings, but not so large as to be too heavy to lug around. They’re very durable and stack well. Not the prettiest thing in the world, but I have one from 1996 when I worked the drive-thru in a liquor store.

Oddly enough, that was a great job!

Crap. My “cardboard box” is a shiny MacBook Air screen…

Life is a journey and we are constantly replacing our cardboard boxes so that we can get a better view of the world…or less of one.

    Great post!

I like a hat box for a step up in boxes. There’s a lovely lid, not to mention a handle, should someone else want to take your head out for a spin.

  9. Plastic Vs Cardboard

I prefer plastic boxes over cardboard. Stronger, more durable and most importantly: waterproof. No longer do I get soggy when it rains and I can see where I’m going without cutting unsightly holes in my box. Plastic is far more versatile than cardboard for your headgear needs.

Life as a series of boxes. Yes, yes, yes.

I wrote a poem once about “unboxing my life.” It’s on my blog somewhere…

Have you found your perfect box? Or is search indeed the best part?
