Remember the construction sites with holes on the sides of the wooden walls so people could peer down into the hole and watch the construction? And the signs “dig we must for a better NY”? I thought that was about the coolest thing ever except for the semi-circular building on Central Park South and I believe Sixth or maybe Seventh–which I wanted to transport down to the Village where I was definitely going to live as an adult.
