Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade Through Time

(photos from Macy’s and MZ on Flickr for Miley Cyrus)

I know who Miley Cyrus is (she needs to learn to lip-sync better), but who are the Clique Girlz?  The Harajuku Girls?  And do kids really enjoy seeing the Energizer Bunny as a balloon? And didn’t Santa seem a little drunk this year?  Or was he a little too excited to be in the same parade as the Harajuku Girls?

That’s cool that you got to watch it. I live a block from the parade route but haven’t been in about 5 years. It’s too friggin’ early in the morning for me! I always wake up after it’s over.

As a matter of fact, Boo was QUITE excted to see the Energizer Bunny. although I am very pleased to report that she couldn’t name him. She said, “Look Mommy! It’s that cute pink bunny with the drum from those battery commercials!”

EAT THAT! Madison Avenue! (ummm, I think?)

It was always a big event in my house. We’d wake up and watch it on TV.

My daughter’s name is Macy, and she is still young enough to think it’s cool. She loves the parade.

I was thinking the same thing about Santa. He really got his jolly on this year.

Sorry, can’t help you with the Harajuku Girls. Sounds vaguely familiar.

are those harajuku girls the ones featured on gwen stefani’s video a few years back? i can’t remember what they were called, but i think that’s where they are from.
happy thanksgiving to you and your mother.

I was a little confused on a lot of the “guests”:
Clique Girlz – Never heard of them.
Lang Lang – obviously NOT playing the cardboard piano with the Sesame Street gang.
And Foster’s Home “Surprise Guest” – they should’ve said “one hit wonder guests from the 80’s”

Weird. It was like they couldn’t get any real big names this year!

Hey that reminds me, when I finished at work here today I have to make it home through the Macy’s parade here!

My thoughts exactly–who the hell are those acts they dredge up for this parade? Even my 13-year-old daughter had never heard of them. I like when the Broadway shows perform, though. But WHY do they have the hosts on such a tight script? There’s not a word that seems natural. Remember the old days when the hosts just talked??

P.S. Who does Andy Williams’ botox treatments? Not a bad job…

I’m still trying to remember the Underdog theme!! Sing it with me- Here he comes, to save the day!!!!

(Bitchy was there- said the saw Miley. Didn’t mention the other strangers……..)

Since I moved to South Carolina I tear up everytime I see the new Macy’s commercial–the montage of Macy’s in movies and other things through the years

But I’m staying on the Upper West Side for the holidays and we almost made it to the blowing up of the ballons something my friends take for granted, and I used to

I had much to say on your post below this and almost wrote a discourse
