the writing and photography of Neil Kramer

Lake Pleshcheyevo

You’re old, with not much life, attached to long plastic tubes.   How many years has it been since you unbuttoned Fanya’s blouse by Lake Pleshcheyevo?    Remember how the freckles on her chest were as numerous as the stars in the Russian sky.  Re-live it, old man.   Re-live the passion as the Filipino nurse stabs you in the arm with another antibiotic.

Wow, dude. You nailed it. More of this, please.

(And also, I’m so sorry about your FIL. It’s hard for us, the healthy ones, to watch our loved ones slowly die, and my thoughts are with you and your family.)

Neil, this is stunning. As good as any prose poem I’ve ever seen. And I’ve seen a lot of them.
