London Bombing

What a terrible event in London.

I can’t believe it took so long (at least a half hour) before it was blamed on —  the Jews.

In other news, I find it a positive step that Sir Igbal Sacranie of the Muslim Council of Britain publicly condemned the attacks.   (via Marissa)

"We are simply appalled and want to express our deepest condolences to the families."

"These terrorists, these evil people want to demoralise us as a nation and divide us."

"All of must unite in helping the police to hunt these murderers down."

Can we hear from some more Muslim leaders… in other countries?

Hi Neil…well, that is truly amazing…only a 1/2 hour huh?! I ‘ve been reading your blog for a few weeks now (not sure how I stumbled here…but i’m here nonetheless!) Love your entries…especially loved your one on Tom Cruise (he’s gone nutty nuts) and joining the tribe…funny stuff…where else do you write? (hope i’m not being too personal!)

Actually, I am a little pissed these Islamic terrorists keep blaming this stuff on the Jews. As a Catholic I think I can claim some fault because of the Crusades.

Let’s give credit where it is due.

Too bad we can’t blame it on vapid celebrities. Crappy stuff though, I’m just glad everyone I know over there is all good!

How on Earth do you read into that MSNBC news report that the bombings were being blamed on the Jews? Unless, of course, you’re predisposed to see it that way. All I see is a report that Israel was informed of the attacks in advance and a denial that they were. How that attributes blame anywhere is beyond my ability to understand.

And while I’m here, just why should Muslim leaders be expected to condemn the bombings any more than anyone else should? If someone were to commit an atrocity on behalf of, say, atheists would you expect every atheist on the goddamn planet to stand up and denounce it? No, of course you wouldn’t. Would you? Bizarre!

Pete, thanks for the comment. Isn’t the ultimate purpose of Islamic terrorists to destroy “Western” civilization and create a Islamic-ruled world? I don’t like using violence against violence. The only ones who can talk teenagers out of blowing themselves up and men and women from setting up bombs in honor of Islam is Muslim leaders themselves.

If a Jewish group did a terrible thing in the name of Judaism, I would definitely want every single religious leader to condemn it.

And yes, if an atheist group blew up a church to promote atheism, I would expect atheist groups to say something.

And the blaming the Jews line was a bit of a joke, but it’s not that far from the truth. Remember all the Jews who somehow didn’t show up for work on 9/11?

This is what Tony Blair had to say about the terrorist bombings in London (taken directly from CNN.com)…
boosting understanding between people of difference religions, helping people in the Middle East see a path to democracy and easing the conflict between Israel and the Palestinians, he said.
This is what he says is causing terrorist activity. As we can all see, the U.S. bringing “democracy” to Iraq, has really made a difference. And if those Jews would just solve their conflicts, perhaps the terrorists would mellow out. And maybe pigs will fly.
