On the subject of Astrology, though, it confuses me when someone says they’re into “science” and, BECAUSE of that, they can’t take Astrology seriously. You see, Astroloy is a science - in fact, it’s probably the first science ever studied by man.

The problem Astrology faces nowadays is that there’s no control over who’s a real astrologer or not. Basically, if you want to be an astrologer, all you have to do is say that you are - no degree is needed, no license to practice it, nothing. Imagine how the world would be if you could do the same in Medecine? Just claim “I’m a doctor” and presto, you’re one.

You can tell this by the amount of so-called astrologers who make those daily horoscopes. People bad-mouth astrology because they think that’s all it is - a simplistic division of the world’s population into 12 segments.

You may also be wondering “why the real astrologers don’t stand up for themselves, then?”. That would be a long story, and this comment is long as it is, but remember how Astrologers were literally persecuted by the church? Including being burned as people who worshipped the devil and such (mainly we’re talking of the inquisition here)? That’s when Astrology “gained” the reputation for being an “art of the occult”. That would scare people away from those nasty evil astrologers.

Can you picture someone suffering in a relationship and having the priest saying that praying would solve everything, only to have an astrologer come along and say “well, actually, god has nothing to do with it, you’re just going through a Saturn transit and you’ll be feeling like that for a few months yet”…. heresy! Of course.

To make a long story short, only in the past hundred years or so (coincidently, as the church was losing more and more credibility and followers), has Astrology taken a turn towards revival. It’s too bad a lot of the old knowledge was lost, but there are many quality astrologers in the world right now who are working daily to clear the myths and fallacies that still persist over the matter.

One last note, though. Don’t know if anyone explained this already (too many entries to read through all of them, sorry) but, when you say “I’m a Pisces” you’re basically saying that the Sun was astrologically placed in that sign when you were born, that’s it, and almost a tenth of the planet would have to be like you. That said, you can be VERY happy with an Aquarian… just as long as most of your birth configuration is compatible with the Aquarian’s.

As the saying goes, “one half-truth can be more dangerous than a lie”, and that applies here. It’s one of the greatest mistakes one can make when they begin to study Astrology is to think “this is bad”, “this is good”, “this is what I should be looking for” and so on. That’s falling into a sort of prejudice that real astrologers are warned against very early in their studies (assuming they’re studying in a proper school with professional teachers, and not “home-made” like so many out there).
